A message that many don’t understand or want to hear is that God will judge those who continue to reject His commandments. In Acts 17:30-31, the apostle Paul states, “Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.” Regardless of the fact that people refuse to heed the call to repent, judgment is coming! Man is continually heaping sin upon sin and judgment upon judgment upon himself neglecting to understand that God is holy and because He is holy, He must judge sin.
Today, we hear in the news that another state supreme court has ruled in favor of homosexual marriage. This is certainly an indicator that judgment is on the way, when good people do nothing to stop the promotion of immorality. I’ve heard it said that “if God does not judge America, He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.” We know that no apology is henceforth coming, so we can rightly expect He will judge America.
The good news is that God has provided a way for man to escape judgment by placing our deserved judgment upon His Son, Jesus Christ at the cross. Isaiah testifies, “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” When Jesus bore our punishment for our sins on the cross He cried out, “It is Finished!” thereby justifying those who by faith would place their trust in Him.
To benefit from God’s free gift of grace and mercy, we must believe in Jesus Christ and repent or turn from our sin, ask Him to forgive us of our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness, and no longer walk in the sin that put Jesus on the cross. If we do not repent, God’s judgment is rightly upon us. Jesus states in John 3:18, “he that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
Jesus was very clear that the wrath of God abides on those who do not repent and trust in Him to deliver us from God’s blazing wrath: “except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3, 5). While this is not an element heard in the modern gospel in many churches today, Jesus made it very clear by even repeating it twice that all should repent.

Thursday afternoon, the New Mexico legislature voted on a measure that sought to redefine marriage in our state. I’m referring to Senate Bill 12 (the Domestic Partnership Rights & Responsibilities Bill). Proponents say that homosexuals should have equal rights under the law. In other words, their contention is that government should grant homosexuals the right to be legally married thereby entitling them to the same benefits that a heterosexual couple is afforded by law.

Phil 3:3-11
3 for we are the {true} circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh, 4 although I myself might have confidence even in the flesh. If anyone else has a mind to put confidence in the flesh, I far more: 5 circumcised the eighth day, of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the Law, a Pharisee;
6 as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to the righteousness which is in the Law, found blameless. 7 But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8 More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Christ, 9 and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from {the} Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which {comes} from God on the basis of faith, 10 that I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; 11 in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Have you ever met someone who could do no wrong? I’ve come across people before who not only think this way but communicate it in many ways. These are the ones who want you to know what their accomplishments are, or what their titles or education level is. They’re quick to point that they’ve done this or that but when they are confronted with something they’ve done wrong, they either place the blame on something or someone else. The apostle Paul had reason to boast in his background and accomplishments. After all, he authored the majority of the New Testament. But Paul would not take accolades for himself but gave all the credit to the Lord Jesus Christ. His desire was not only to know Him completely but to glorify Him completely. He wanted all of Christ…to be focused solely upon the Lord. Pride can cause all kinds of problems in our lives and boasting is the byproduct of pride in our heart. Pride is repugnant to the nostrils of God and is the pathway that leads to heartache and destruction in our lives. We would do well to follow the example of Paul, and seek to know nothing but Christ and Him crucified. We should boast only in Him!
We are in the midst of an extensive rennovation here at Trinty. Even as I type, I am sitting in my office chair in Fellowship Hall just next to the kitchen where there is a phone plug! Sheetrock and insulation is everywhere in the education wing and the sanctuary and Fellowship Hall are the only places that are not getting a new ceiling. The outside of the church will be painted as well. I am thrilled to get everything done, but not looking forward to the cleanup. I know the construction people will clean up after themselves, but there will still be much to do. Next Tuesday we are hosting the association meeting and I am almost sure there will still be construction and clean up still going on. What a price for progress! Looking back will be great and looking forward is even better as I know the Lord is going to bless our church as we prepare for the increase. My prayer to the Lord though is to continue to send workers into the harvest.
Tucumcari is a great mission field and there is much work to be done. There is so many who need to hear the gospel, so much despair, poverty and drug problems. I pray daily that the Lord will send revival. Our crusade will start one month from today. We have been planning for months and the real work is getting ready to begin as we start knocking on doors and spreading the word. May God bless our efforts and may He get all the glory!
